New movie: 5 to 7

Posted by Janine on October 17th, 2012 under Movie News

Diane Kruger (Inglourious Basterds, The Host) and Anton Yelchin (Fright Night, Star Trek) have signed on to star in the romantic comedy 5 to 7, it was announced today by producers Bonnie Curtis and Julie Lynn of Mockingbird Pictures and The Solution Entertainment Group’s co-founders and partners, Lisa Wilson and Myles Nestel. The film is written and to be directed by Victor Levin (“Mad Men”).

Scheduled to start production in late February 2013, 5 to 7 is set in New York, where an aspiring novelist (Yelchin) has a cinq-a-sept affair with the beautiful wife of a French diplomat (Kruger). Cultures, world views, personal ethics and dietary preferences clash as love deepens, with remarkable results in this romantic comedy.

“Vic Levin’s script has us in tears — we’re just not sure if it’s from laughing or crying. We’re excited about the grace and intelligence that he, Diane and Anton will bring to their interpretations of his beautiful story,” said Curtis and Lynn.

“This is just a great script with a wonderful cast attached and filmmakers involved who have a fantastic track record. It exactly matches our criteria of offering only the very best in independent filmmaking to our clients. The response to the project has been overwhelming,” said Wilson and Nestel.

Wilson and Nestel are on board as co-executive producers of the film with the company also handling international distribution rights. The Solution will introduce the project to buyers at the upcoming American Film Market. (source

Pilot Scoop: Diane Kruger Crosses FX’s Bridge

Marking her first major foray into television, Diane Kruger has snagged the female lead in FX’s drama pilot The Bridge, TVLine has learned. Adapted from the Scandinavian series i Bron, The Bridge centers on two detectives from the United States and Mexico who must work together to hunt down a serial killer operating on both sides of the American-Mexican border. Kruger, whose credits include Inglourious Basterds and the National Treasure films, will play El Paso Police Homicide Detective Sonya North, a dogged cop who lacks tact, warmth and empathy. Shockingly candid, she calls the world like she sees it – which can be off-putting to her colleagues, but also refreshing and funny. The role of her partner, Marco Ruiz, is still being cast. The Bridge pilot was penned by Meredith Stiehm (Homeland) and Elwood Reid (Hawaii Five-0) and will be directed by Gerardo Naranjo (Miss Bala). (source)

Wow, who else is excited to see Diane tackle television!? The pilot sure sounds awesome.
