Pilot Scoop: Diane Kruger Crosses FX’s Bridge

Marking her first major foray into television, Diane Kruger has snagged the female lead in FX’s drama pilot The Bridge, TVLine has learned. Adapted from the Scandinavian series i Bron, The Bridge centers on two detectives from the United States and Mexico who must work together to hunt down a serial killer operating on both sides of the American-Mexican border. Kruger, whose credits include Inglourious Basterds and the National Treasure films, will play El Paso Police Homicide Detective Sonya North, a dogged cop who lacks tact, warmth and empathy. Shockingly candid, she calls the world like she sees it – which can be off-putting to her colleagues, but also refreshing and funny. The role of her partner, Marco Ruiz, is still being cast. The Bridge pilot was penned by Meredith Stiehm (Homeland) and Elwood Reid (Hawaii Five-0) and will be directed by Gerardo Naranjo (Miss Bala). (source)

Wow, who else is excited to see Diane tackle television!? The pilot sure sounds awesome.

Hayley Atwell, Diane Kruger And Kate Beckinsale Vying For Lead In ‘Horizons’

Posted by Janine on November 21st, 2011 under Movie News, News

“Horizons,” a scifi tale taking place in a post-apocalyptic world, is having no trouble getting actors interested. Tom Cruise is already attached and Jessica Chastain of “The Help” has been cast, but there is still one other major part to be filled.

They need someone for the other female lead, and according to Deadline, it’s down to Hayley Atwell, Diane Kruger and Kate Beckinsale. Apparently the three headlining actresses will be reading this weekend, after which one will have to be chosen.

Fans of the Splash Page should know Hayley Atwell from “Captain America: The First Avenger.” Diane Kruger, meanwhile, has starred in “National Treasure: Book of Secrets” and “Inglourious Basterds.” Kate Beckinsale stars in the “Underworld” movies and has also been in “Pearl Harbor” and “The Aviator.” So in other words, all three actresses have impressive film credits.

The role to be filled is of a woman who crashes on earth and meets with Tom Cruise’s character. In this world people typically live in the clouds — as earth is no longer welcoming to life — and there ought to be some alien fun as well.

Director Joseph Kosinski is the originator of the idea for “Horizons,” previously titled “Oblivion.” He had it published first as a graphic novel, but with the hope that it would be made into a movie down the line when he was no longer caught up in other projects. (source)

Anyways, happy birthday Diane!!!
